How do I activate my Single Sign-On (SSO) account?

The following information sets out the steps you need to take to activate your University of Oxford Single Sign-On (SSO) account and email address. Your SSO account allows you to access a range of IT services at the University.

To activate your account

Once you have received your details from the University, go to Webauth and select option 1.

You will need:

  • Your last name
  • Your date of birth
  • Your student number: in the format “1234567”
  • Your Oxford username: in the format “abcd1234”
  • Your account activation code: in the format “AAAA-BBBB-CCCC”

Next Steps

You will need your SSO details to access Student Self Service in order to carry out your University registration for the forthcoming academic year. You will be sent an email with instructions when the registration period opens.

Once you have activated your account you can:

Access Canvas
Register for an ORCID. For more information see the ORCID FAQ page.
Find out what your University email address is
and Use your University mailbox.

University emails will no longer be sent to your non-University email address once your University account has been activated. It is a University requirement that you regularly monitor email sent to your University email address.
